The Department of Information Technology and Technical Education is a scientific and pedagogical department focused primarily on the field of information and communication technologies in education, respectively on the digital technologies in teaching and learning and the teaching profession. It focuses on the development of pedagogical skills of teachers to use digital technology in education. It also specifically focuses on the field of information technology education, respectively the didactics of computer science and information technology education. In relation to educational practice, the department focuses on the issue of the development of digital literacy among students and their computational thinking, the issue of educational specificities and digital technology as a significant factor of multifunctional working environment for pupils and teachers, the issues of innovative support models of teaching and learning through the use of the educational potential of information and communication technology and implementation of innovative teaching methods based on the use of digital technologies.
The Department of Information Technology and Technical Education is in its educational activities focused on several areas and forms of education. The main educational focus of the department is to prepare students of bachelor and master degree courses of Information Technology in Education, respectively Information and communication technologies in full-time and combined studies. In addition to basic pedagogical activity, it is a pedagogical work within a common foundation studies at the faculty and the effect of lifelong learning.
Department of Information Technology and Technical Education is in its scientific activities focused on the exploration of the processes and trends in education in the context of the development of digital technologies and their impact on the curriculum and the sphere of procedural education in terms of the information society, the issue of science education, respectively the information technology education and the development of digital competence of students, the issue of teacher training in digital technology and the development of pedagogical skills of teachers to use these means, the issue of the use of digital technologies in schools during teaching and learning, the integration of information technology education in the education, the support of information, communication, diagnostic and creative activities of teachers and pupils using digital technologies, and the issue of exploring electronic support of education, respectively education models with support for virtual training systems and environments.
