Teaching

Department of Music of the Faculty of Education, Charles University specializes in the training of teachers of Music Education for Primary and Secondary schools, teachers for instrumental playing for Elementary Art Schools and preparation of choirmasters. A very important part of our activities is scientific and artistic work. We cooperate with numerous European universities within the study programmes and scientific and artistic projects.

We offer bachelor's and master's degree program in Music Education, Instrumental Performance (piano, violin, violoncello) and Choral Conducting. The first three years are dedicated to gaining  a Bachelor degree and the later two a Master degree.  Students have a chance to enlarge their theoretical and knowledge and historical knowledge, as well as their practical vocal, instrumental and condacting skills. Besides seminars and individual lessons, students take part in musical ensembles (choirs, chambre orchestra).

Combination of study programmes:

• Music Education - Instrumental Performance (piano, violin, violoncello)
• Music Education - Choral Conducting
• Music Education – English Language

Department of Music also offers the Doctor study programme Music Theory and Pedagogy.

All the programmes are regularly organized for international students, where all classes are conducted in English.
