Dear colleagues,

I anxiously observe the escalation of the tension on the Russia–Ukraine border. It is almost inconceivable that we would experience an all-out war between two countries in Europe.

I felt like the times when violence was used as a legitimate tool to fulfil one’s political ambitions were over. However, recent years have filled me with great concerns that there are leaders close to us who want to achieve their ambitions in the worst possible way – by violence.

I assure all our students coming from Ukraine, students whose families might be directly influenced by the war, that the Management of the Faculty is intensively dealing with possible solutions how to help him. So that, even if the situation would escalate into an all-out military conflict, students wouldn’t be forced to interrupt their studies. At the same time, I declare that The Charles University Faculty of Education is prepared in the spirit of its humanistic tradition to make every effort to help in case of mass migration from Ukraine.

Yet, I really hope it won’t be necessary to deliver on this promise.

Michal Nedělka

The Dean of the Faculty
