Erasmus+ Project Meeting Report

During the last two years, the Pre-Primary and Primary Education department have been participating in the ‘European Cultural Project’ with the aim of identifying elements of a ‘common’ European culture. The Erasmus+ KA2 Project involved ten national partners each working with schools in their own counties to enrich different areas of the school curriculum with some of the values and ideas evident in European culture. Teaching colleagues at ZŠ Mikoláše Alše and The English College in Prague worked with their students to highlight different themes related to being a European citizen today.

On 13 and 14 April, twenty two project colleagues from Austria, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Netherlands and Spain were hosted at the Faculty of Education’s building in Celetná. Partners evaluated project progress, considered ways to disseminate outcomes during the final 6 months ahead, and took part in a Q&A session following a presentation from EUROPEUM entitled ‘Perceptions of Freedom, Democracy and the Rule of Law in the Czech Republic'.

Each evening there also were opportunities for project colleagues to enjoy some local culture including a guided tour of Obecní dům, a performance of Black Light theatre, the atmosphere at Reduta Jazz Club and of course, some Czech food and beer.
