On 10-13 November, 2024, a group of 10 students of the Dept. of IT, Dept. of Math and Math Education, Dept. of Chemistry and Chemistry Education and the Dept. of Biology and Environmental Education visited Maribor (Slovenia) to find out how the subjects of computing, chemistry, biology and mathematics are taught in secondary schools. This visit took place in co-operation with the University of Maribor, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. A great deal of credit for securing this event for the Czech students went to Prof Dr. Mateja PLOJ VIRTIČ, vice-dean of the University of Maribor, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
At Osnovna šola Franceta Prešerna, the Czech students could participate in lessons of various subjects in grades 6-9 year (lower secondary education). The program of visits to this school for students was prepared by Katja Krecenbaher Mernik (English language and IT teacher at this school). At Srednja ekonomska šola in gimnazija (Trg Borisa Kidriča 3), the Czech students visited in the teaching of biology and mathematics on the level of upper secondary education. The program of visits to this school for students was prepared by Alenka Pokeržnik (biology teacher at this school).
At the end of their stay in Maribor, the students visited the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Maribor. At the University, the Czech students were awaited by the students of the Department of Technology (technical education and technology in combination with computer disciplines, chemistry, biology, mathematics and physics) who organised various competitions (quizzes, table tennis, etc.) for all students and teachers - they competed in international teams.
