On Thursday, the Faculty of Education at Charles University signed a memorandum of cooperation with Mercy University. For the Department of Psychology, this marks an important continuation of a long-standing partnership and, at the same time, the beginning of a new phase.
The existing partnership has been closely linked to the work of Jack Simons, who is involved in both teaching and research. Thanks to this, our students have the opportunity to regularly engage with an international academic context and develop intercultural sensitivity, which is essential for future psychologists.
How does Irena Smetáčková, Head of the Department of Psychology, view this collaboration from a practical perspective?
“I am all the more delighted that a new phase of this collaboration is now beginning. I hope that even more faculty members and students on both sides will gradually become involved and that it will bring new opportunities not only to the Department of Psychology but also to other fields. Regular teaching and research collaboration with a professionally oriented American university is an exciting opportunity for our faculty.”
The memorandum was signed by Faculty Dean Antonin Jancarik in the presence of Irena Smetáčková, Jack Simons, and Tomáš Klinka. Eric Martone, Dean of the School of Education at Mercy University, joined the event online.
