Workshop about the usage of revised Bloom’s taxonomy for analyzing the Turkish and Czech chemistry curriculum objectives. The purposes of using taxonomies in chemical education will be discussed, and the general structure of both Czech and Chemistry curricula will be presented. The results of the implemented document analysis using revised Bloom’s taxonomy for both curricula according to their curricular goals will be explored.



Abstract:

This presentation is about the usage of revised Bloom’s taxonomy for analyzing the Turkish and Czech chemistry curriculum objectives. The purposes of using taxonomies in chemical education will be discussed, and the general structure of both Czech and Chemistry curricula will be presented. The results of the implemented document analysis using revised Bloom’s taxonomy for both curricula according to their curricular goals will be explored.


Bio:

Ridvan Elmas is a senior postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical education at Charles University Prague in the Czech Republic and assistant professor of science education at Afyon Kocatepe University in Turkey. He finished his Ph.D. in chemical education from Middle East Technical University at Ankara in Turkey. Since then, for the last five years, he has continuously been working in the field of chemistry and science education. After starting a faculty position in 2013 at Afyon Kocatepe University, he worked in several universities temporarily such as Utrecht University, Purdue University, Charles University as a postdoctoral researcher or a visiting scholar for several periods five months to 1 year.
